Id-dritt tat-tfal għall-protezzjoni
|
Il-Kummissjoni tniedi kompetizzjoni għaż-żgħażagħ kollha tal-UE
"Id-dritt tat-tfal għall-protezzjoni", dan huwa t-titlu ta' kompetizzjoni mnedija llum il-31 ta' Lulju 2008, minn Jacques Barrot, Viċi-President tal-Kummissjoni Ewropea inkarigat mill-Ġustizzja, il-Libertà u s-Sigurtà. It-tfal u l-adolexxenti Ewropej, minn 10 sa 18-il sena, huma mistiedna joħolqu poster dwar it-tema tad-dritt tat-tfal għall-protezzjoni fi ħdan l-Unjoni Ewropea. Il-kompetizzjoni hija maħsuba sabiex dawn iċ-ċittadini żgħażagħ Ewropej ikunu jafu aktar dwar dan id-dritt li hu tagħhom u jkunu armati aħjar sabiex jiddefenduh.
"Li jiġu ggarantiti u magħrufa aħjar id-drittijiet tat-tfal, u b'mod partikolari d-dritt għall-protezzjoni, li jibbenefikaw minnu t-tfal u l-adoloxxenti kollha li huma ċittadini jew residenti tal-Unjoni Ewropea, huma għanijiet komuni tal-Unjoni Ewropea u tal-Istati Membri tagħha," iddikjara l-Viċi-President Barrot. Huwa żied jgħid li "id-dritt li wieħed jgħid "JIEN GĦANDI DRITT GĦALL-PROTEZZJONI!" u li tassew jinstema' jfisser l-affermazzjoni miż-żagħżugħ ta' valur fundamentali tal-Ewropa, u kompla jgħid li: huwa għalhekk li llum, fil-qafas ta' din il-kompetizzjoni, qed nipproponi liż-żgħażagħ sabiex jaħdmu f'timijiet dwar it-tema tad-dritt tagħhom għall-protezzjoni, sabiex isiru jafu aktar dwar dan id-dritt u jkunu armati aħjar biex jużawh".
Iż-żgħażagħ li jiddeċiedu li jipparteċipaw fil-kompetizzjoni għandhom joħolqu poster li juri l-idea tad-dritt tagħhom għall-protezzjoni fl-Unjoni Ewropea. Il-parteċipanti jkunu maqsumin f'żewġ kategoriji skond l-età tagħhom (10-14-il sena u 15-18-il sena) u għandhom ikunu magħmulin minn gruppi ta' mill-inqas erba' zgħazagħ.
Fil-livell nazzjonali, ix-xogħlijiet se jkunu suġġetti għall-ewwel għażla u t-tliet timijiet li jintgħażlu minn kull kategorija tal-età jkunu mistiedna fl-20 ta' Novembru, "il-Jum Internazzjonali tad-Drittijiet tat-Tfal", għal ċerimonja tal-għoti tal-premjijiet, organizzata f'kull pajjiż.
Fil-livell Ewropew, ix-xogħlijiet li jkunu rebħu l-ewwel premju nazzjonali jgħaddu għat-tieni selezzjoni u t-tliet gruppi li jirbħu minn kull kategorija ta' età jkunu mistiedna Brussell mis-7 sat-9 ta' Diċembru sabiex iżuru l-belt u l-istituzzjonijiet Ewropej u jipparteċipaw f'ċerimonja Ewropea tal-għoti tal-premjijiet ippreseduta mill-Viċi-President Barrot.
L-aħjar posters jiġu ppreżentati fuq il-websajts tar-Rappreżentanzi tal-Kummissjoni Ewropea fl-Istati Membri tal-UE u fuq is-server Europa. Huma jistgħu wkoll jiġu użati fil-kampanji Ewropej futuri dwar id-difiża tad-drittijiet tat-tfal, fosthom id-dritt għall-protezzjoni.
Din l-inizjattiva hija daqstant aktar xierqa, minħabba li teżisti fil-kuntest tal-politika tal-Kummissjoni dwar id-difiża tad-drittijiet kollha u tax-xewqa tagħha li tintegra dan il-prinċipju fil-politiki kollha interni u esterni tagħha.
Għal aktar informazzjoni kkonsulta l-websajt www.eurojeune.eu, li tagħti aċċess għas-sit tal-kompetizzjoni. Din il-kompetizzjoni l-ġdida ssegwi żewġ edizzjonijiet preċedenti, li l-ewwel waħda minnhom saret fl-2006 dwar it-tema tal-affermazzjoni tad-drittijiet tat-tfal b'mod ġenerali u li t-tieni waħda saret fl-2007 u kienet dwar ir-rifjut tad-diskriminazzjoni. "IDDEFENDI D-DRITTIJIET TIEGĦEK" u "FLIMKIEN KONTRA D-DISKRIMINAZZJONI!" kienu għalhekk kunċetti unifikanti li wasslu sabiex aktar minn 2000 tim mill-Unjoni Ewropea kollha fl-2006 u aktar minn 6000 fl-2007 jippreżentaw posters dwar id-drittijiet tat-tfal u kontra d-diskriminazzjoni. L-aħjar minn fost dawn xogħlijiet, li huma disponibbli fl-indirizz http://ec.europa.eu/commission_barroso/barrot/children/default_fr.htm, jistgħu huma wkoll jintużaw f'kampanji Ewropej futuri.

The right of the child to protection
|
Commission launches competition open to all young people in the European Union
"The right of the child to protection" is the title of a competition launched today, 31 July 2008, by Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission with responsibility for justice, freedom and security. European children and adolescents between the ages of 10 and 18 are invited to design a poster on the right of children to protection in the European Union. The aim of the competition is to ensure that these young European citizens are more aware of their right to protection and are better equipped to defend it.
"Guaranteeing children's rights and raising awareness of these rights, in particular the right to protection enjoyed by all children and adolescents who are citizens or residents of the EU, are objectives shared by the EU and its Member States", according to Vice-President Barrot. "Being entitled to say "I HAVE THE RIGHT TO PROTECTION!" and to actually be heard means, for young people, asserting a fundamental European value. This is why, as part of this competition, I am encouraging young people to work together in teams on the theme of their right to protection so that they are more aware of this right and are better equipped to invoke it".
Those wishing to take part in the competition will have to design a poster illustrating the idea of their right to their own protection in the EU. Participants will be divided into two age categories (10-14 and 15-18) and must work in groups of at least four.
The entries will be judged first at national level, and prizes will be awarded to the three best teams in each age category at ceremonies to be held in each country on 20 November, International Children’s Rights Day.
The winners of the first prize in the national competition will compete in a second round at European level. The three top teams in each age group will be invited to visit Brussels from 7 to 9 December for a tour of the city and the European institutions and to attend a European award ceremony hosted by Vice-President Barrot.
The best posters will be displayed on the websites of the Commission’s representations in the Member States and on the Europa server. They may also be used in future European campaigns on the rights of children, including the right to protection.
This initiative is particularly timely given that it is in keeping with the Commission’s policy to defend all rights and its determination to integrate this into all of its internal and external policies.
Further information may be found on the Internet site www.europayouth.eu, which contains links to the competition site. This new competition follows two organised earlier, the first one in 2006 on the assertion of children's rights in general, and the second one in 2007 on the rejection of discrimination. No fewer than 2 000 teams in 2006 and over 6 000 in 2007 from all over the EU took up the challenge under the headings "SPEAK UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!" and "TOGETHER AGAINST DISCRIMINATION!" and submitted designs for a poster on the rights of the child and on non-discrimination. The best of these, which can be found on the site http://ec.europa.eu/commission_barroso/barrot/children/default_en.htm, might also be used in future European campaigns.
