Self Development Programme Courses
YWCA (Malta) is running a Self Development Programme with the aim of empowering women and young women, teaching them basic skills which will enrich their lives and enable them to improve their chances in the labour market.
Literacy Courses in Maltese and English:
- Maltese and English lessons in reading and writing are given on a weekly basis to adult females who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of the languages.
Portraying Our Best: ( 6 sessions )
- Aimed for women embarking in the labour market, this Personal Grooming course will seek to enhance their looks helping them build up their self esteem. This course includes skincare, hand & foot care, personal hygiene, posture, preparing for an interview and work etiquette.
Image Makeover: ( 6 sessions )
- This program is intended for the mature women who would like to reinvent her image, this Makeover Program will help women understand how colours, clothes, hair and makeup are brought together to create an image that best suits her personality. This program also includes skincare, hand & foot care, personal hygiene, posture, basic etiquette, etc.
Sewing Courses :
- Sewing and Alteration course will seek to empower women and girls with sewing and alterations skills that will help them work in this section.
- All courses are given by professional tutors
- Certificates of attendance will be awarded at the end of each program
- All courses are offered free of charge
- Some programs might include a meeting before course starts to ensure predisposition and eligibility of applicant.
- Courses will commence in April

Courses in Art and Crafts - 3rd Term
|
ART AND CRAFT COURSES
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce will be organising the 3rd Term (April - March 2009) Morning / Evening Courses in Art and Crafts between the second week of April and June 2009. All the courses will be held at Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta, from Monday to Saturday. The two hour-sessions are held at an established time between 9.00am and 12.00pm or 4.30pm and 7.30pm, once a week. Each course will run over ten sessions of two hours each session. Anyone over 6 years of age can apply for these courses. Courses fee is €21, however a few courses cost more because the fee includes the material used during the course.
Courses will be held in the following subjects:
Art, Art 50+, Clay Sculpture, Floral Art, Modern Floral Art, Portrait & Figure Drawing, Stone Sculpture, Beading, Bridal Bouquets, Cottage Craft, Crib Building, Crochet, Dress Making & Cutting Out, Embroidery, Embroidery in Gold, Embroidery on Paper, Gilding, Filigree, Ganutell, Interior Design, Knitting, Malta Lace, Monastery, Needle Handcrafts, Parchment Craft, Plastic Canvas, Soft Furnishing, Tailoring, Woodcarving, Xmas Cards/Decoration on Parchment, Miniature Figure Painting. There is also a beginners course on Maltese Language for foreigners residing in Malta.

Course in Music - 3rd Term

MUSIC COURSES
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce will be organising the 3rdd Term (April - June) Morning / Evening Courses in Music between the second week of April and June 2009. All the courses will be held at Palazzo De La Salle, 219 Republic Street, Valletta, from Monday to Saturday. Eache course will run over ten sessions. The morning sessions are held at an agreed time between 9.00am and 12.00am, and the evening sessions at a time between 4.00pm and 8.00pm. Music courses will take between 45 minutes and 60 minutes each session. Anyone over 6 years of age can apply for these courses. Courses fee is €38.
Courses will be held in the following subjects: Guitar, Pianoforte (Pre-Grade and Grade 1 to 5), Violin, Clarinet, Flute, Voice and Theory of Music.
