Gieh Hal Balzan
|
 The Council presented Mr. Michaelangelo Borg and Mr. Charles Chetcuti with the honour "Gieh Hal Balzan" during the activity commemorating Balzan Day, on Sunday, 15th April 2007.
The honour was presented at the Balzan Playing Field after the official opening of the same playing field. The playing field is being named in memory of the first Mayor of Balzan, Mr. Joseph A. Stellini.

WasteServ opens the Civic Amenity Site in Mriehel
|
WasteServ has now opened the civic amenity site in Mriehel. The public can discard a variety of separated items.
These centres will facilitate the separate disposal of bulky material such as appliances, electronics, furniture, waste from DIY activities, garden waste, clothes, waste oils and household hazardous waste such as solvents, neon tubes and paints. Their aim is to establish a service to centralize the collection of separated waste and to therefore facilitate the recovery of secondary materials for recycling.
This project which includes the development of these centres, the introduction of more bring-in sites and the ongoing information campaign is being carried out with a budget co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Items can be deposited From Monday - Sunday between 7.00am and 5.30pm.

Bhal kull haga ohra, wara hafna xoghol sar program li tinkludi quddiesa ghal mahbubin kollha u program varjat fis-sala Aurora. Hafna mill-ikel u xorb jithejja b'xejn minn dawk kollha li jghinu bhala mod originali kif il-volontajat jaghti sehmu fl-attivitajiet tar-rahal.
Bhala attrazzjoni principali matul is-snin kienu mistiedna fost l-ohrajn, Id-Dulli u Veronica, il koppja Toni u Sander, Enzo Gusman u martu Carmen Schembri, Ludwig u Julie , Benny u Tonia, waqt li s-sena l-ohra kien imiss lil Claudette Pace biex tferrah l'udjenza fl-Awrora Balzan.

Hospice Food & Wine Hampers Campaign 2006

Christmas Concert
|
The New Choral Singers, under the direction of Robert Calleja, will once again be presenting their annual Christmas concert, 'Musical Tidings'.
This year the choir will be delivering two performances, the first concert will be held on Tuesday 12th December at 'The Annunciation' Parish Church, Balzan, whilst the second performance will take place on Friday 15th December at 'St John of the Cross' Parish Church, Ta' Xbiex. Both concerts will commence at 7.15pm.
This year's repertoire consists of a selection of traditional Christmas carols that will undoubtedly appeal to audiences of all ages. In fact the program ranges from the traditional 'Ninni la Tibkix Izjed', to the upbeat Negro-spiritual 'Mary had a Baby' to the softer lullabies such as the Celtic 'Child in a Manger'.
The choir will also perform two traditional Maltese carols beautifully arranged by Robert Calleja, thus adding a local flavour to this year's varied program. Furthermore, the performance will include two items by the choir's resident soprano Ms Louiselle Pace Gouder, whilst another two items will be performed by the choir's chamber ensemble.
Entrance to both concerts is free of charge, although a retiring collection will be made after the performance.
Members of the general public are cordially invited to join The New Choral Singers as they herald the advent of Christmas in this heart-warming event for music lovers of all ages.
