HELP US STOP INTERNET CHILD ABUSE

The Internet has proved to be a good benefit to society.
However, it has also increased opportunities for the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
The hotline promotes a safer internet use.
The hotline offers a secure and confidential environment where the public can report:
Different kinds of sexualised images of children & malicious approaches from adults to children on internet chatting.
The hotline offers information, tips and resources to the general public about internet safety.
This service can be reached either from a link HELP US STOP INTERNET CHILD ABUSE found on Agency Appogg's main webpage www.appogg.gov.mt
One may also call Supportline 179 and discuss his or her concerns with us.
The hotline is an extension of the national free-
phone helpline Supportline 179. Supportline 179 is a 24/7 service offering support, information and a referral service to callers in times of difficulty or crisis. It empowers the general public to recognize
social problems and make use of the appropriate services. One may also call Supportline 179 to find
guidance about Internet child abuse.

Upgrading of Balzan Playing Field
|
 The Upgrading of the Balzan Playing Field is well underway. The construction work has been completed and what remains are the fixtures.
We are waiting for the delivery of the playing field equipment, from an overseas supplier. When the equipment arrives the contractor will lay the safety carpet and fix the decorative lanterns.
The water and electricity meters will be installed in the very near future.
Next on the Council's agenda is the replacement of the pavements in the Church Square, for which the Council has submitted an application to MEPA's for the utilization of the funds available to it under the Urban Improvement Fund. We hope to receive a favourable reply so that the work will start early next year.

Balzan Local Council News on 93.3 Central FM
|
Community news from the three villages (Attard, Lija and Balzan) is broadcast weekly on 93.3 Central FM, on Sundays at 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
93.3 Central FM can be tuned in on 93.3Mhz from the centre of Malta or through the live stream on www.centralfmradio.com. 'Central FM Community news' may now also be downloaded as a weekly podcast through the podcasting page of the 93.3 Central FM Website.
