Advanced Level Pianoforte & Theory Music Course from January at Palazzo de La Salle
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is organizing Pianoforte & Theory of Music Course for Advanced Level students (Grade 6 upwards and Intermediate/Advanced Level Matsec) from January. The course includes 10 sessions of two hours each once a week. The fee is 70 Euro for the whole course conducted by Lydia Buttigieg B.A. (Hons) Mus, LLCM, LTCL, ALCM, ATCL.

Floral Art, Church Flowers, Bridal/Hand Bouquets, Modern Design and Sculpture with Flowers Courses from January
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is organising a series of courses related to flowers, Floral Art, Church Flowers, Bridal/Hand Bouquets, Modern Design and Sculpture with Flowers. All these courses start in January for 10 consecutive weeks, once a week and will be conducted by Nadine Micallef Grimaud.

Young Musicians Contest 2010 - Regulations
|
1 There will be two Categories, one for Contestants classified as MATURE - for those who will have not reached the age of thirty years on the closing date for applications; and one for Contestants classified as PROMISING - for those who will have not reached the age of seventeen years on the closing date for applications.
2 The Contest is open for BRASS, STRING and WOODWIND INSTRUMENTS.
3 The PRELIMINARIES for this contest will be held at Palazzo De La Salle, in Valletta during the month of April 2010. The FINAL will be held in May 2010 for which invitations will be issued.
4 Every contestant will choose two musical excerpts of not more than eight minutes duration. One piece will be played in the PRELIMINARIES session while the other one will be played in the FINAL if the contestant proceeds to that stage.
5 During the PRELIMINARIES session contestants will be asked to play a ‘sight reading’ excerpt.
6 Contestants will have to be present at the time allocated for the PERFORMANCE. Failure to adhere to the time schedule may lead to disqualification.
7 In the case of music that needs accompanying, the ACCOMPANYING MUSICIANS will be the responsibility of the contestant.
8 The APPLICATION FORM including the chosen music excerpts, a photocopy of the contestant’s ID Card and participation fee of €10 are to be submitted by not later than noon of Friday 29th January 2010. The musical titles will be included in the printed programme of the Finals.
9 The ADJUDICATING PANEL for the Preliminaries will consist of a Chairperson and two members nominated by the Council of the Society. An additional member, the Examiner of the London College of Music at the time in Malta for the Practical Examinations, will form part of the Adjudicating Panel for the Final.
10 DECISIONS taken by the adjudicating panel will be final and binding.
11 The Society will issue PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATES to all contestants.
12 The OVERALL WINNER will not be eligible to participate in a future Contest before a lapse of four (4) years.
13 For two years after the Contest, the Society will reserve the right to utilize RECORDINGS OF THE WINNING MUSIC for non-commercial purposes.
14 The Society reserves the right to CANCEL ANY OF THE CATEGORIES.
15 If the required STANDARD is not achieved, prize/prizes will not be awarded.

OVERALL WINNER
The Overall Winner of the contest will be presented with a trophy to be kept for two years and will benefit from a fortnight’s scholarship at The London College of Music at Thames Valley University, London.
Should the Winner choose to take up the scholarship in London, he/she will be given an allowance of €1000 to cover the flights/land travel/accommodation expenses incurred during the stay in London.

Young Musicians Contest 2010
|
The Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce is holding the 8th Young Musicians Contest 2010 for Strings, Woodwind and Brass Instruments for Mature Candidates (those who will have not reached the age of 30 years on the 29th January, 2010) and Promising Candidates (those who will have not reached the age of 17 years of age on the 29th January, 2010). The Preliminaries will be held during the month of April and the Finals in May, 2010.
The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and the London College of Music are once again sponsoring the event. The Overall Winner of the Contest will be presented with a trophy and benefit from a forthnight scholarship at the London College of Music at Thames University in London. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first two classified in each of the Categories.
