Environment Exhibition
|
On the occasion of the World Environment Day on 5 June, the Balzan Local Council put up an exhibition of children's posters, on the parvis of the Balzan parish church. These posters had been made by several classes of the Lija/Balzan Primary school; there were more than 30, all dealing with aspects of environmental protection such as pollution, waste disposal, protection of the countryside and the seaside, among others. Most of the posters were of high quality and it was obvious that both pupils and teachers had put in a lot of work to prepare them.
As a gesture of appreciation for the fine effort put in by the school, the Local Council, donated a number of books to the school library. These were presented by the Mayor, Dr John Zammit Montebello to Mr Norman Grech, the Head of the school.
The Balzan Local Council would also like to thank Fr Kalcidon Vassallo, the parish priest of Balzan, who had readily accepted to make the church parvis available for the exhibition.
